Traffic Advisory:   Traveling to and from the BCEC

Due to a recent tragedy in the I90 Eastbound Connector to Logan Airport, there are temporary changes in traffic patterns in order to accommodate necessary safety inspections for all of the I90 and I93 Tunnel sections in the downtown Boston area.

The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) is urging guests at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) and the Hynes Convention Center, but particularly the BCEC, to plan accordingly for travel delays.

Expect longer travel delays to and from I90 & I93 between the BCEC, Downtown and Back Bay hotels. As the safety inspections continue throughout the summer, there will be potential and additional detours and delays.

We ask that you please pay close attention to traffic detour routes that have been put in place within the interstate system and adjacent roadways in the South Boston area. The MCCA is working hard to provide you with the most current traffic information and the shortest, quickest alternative routes to and from the BCEC.

In addition, the MCCA strongly recommends the use of public transportation whenever possible (www.mbta.com). The MBTA has also posted updates about any possible delays in public transportation at I-90 Closure Plan http://www.mbta.com/traveling_t/Ted_Williams_Tunnel.asp.

For additional information please call smart traveler at 617.374.1234, the MCCA’s public safety office at 617.954.2222 or our main number 617.954.2000. You can also visit the SmarTraveler website, which provides updated traffic changes, at SmarTraveler Boston http://www.smartraveler.com/scripts/bosmap.asp?city=bos&cityname;=Boston.
