In the mid-1990s, we hosted our first art exhibition in the south rotunda of Hynes. Since then, we’ve showcased over 700 local artists at the BCEC and Hynes, hosted 29 public art receptions, and sold more than $65,000 worth of art to visitors of our centers.
A proud supporter of our local artist communities, the MCCA works to make its art galleries reflective of the vibrant cultures and characteristics of Boston’s many diverse neighborhoods. In 2007, we launched the Community Arts Program which has featured work from more than 14 different Greater Boston communities.
Our art galleries have included everything from original pieces done by glass artist, Ricky Bernstein, to the touching Home is Where the Art Is exhibit, featuring more than 100 paintings that now hang in the Yawkey Family Inn, a residence for families with children admitted to Children’s Hospital Boston. More recently, we hosted Natural Acts, a collection of paintings commissioned by the MCCA from artists who received the esteemed Fellows Award from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
